The Calgary ATV Riders Host its 4th Annual Labour Day Pig Roast, Camping and Riding Weekend

CARA rents the 20 acre Ghost Airstrip Provincial Recreation Area (PRA). (51.387932, -115.017672) for the Sept. long weekend for a camping and riding weekend event. It does usually snow or rain at this time of year, so be prepared!

There will be organized rides and nightly campfires. Tons of room for many RVs with a $20 camping fee each night.
Camp kitchen, outhouses, water pump, supplied firewood allowed in designated pits.

Rides start: 10:30 am daily
Ride destinations: Vary per group and skill levels
Ride Types: Family, Intermediate and Advanced

Pig Roast and Potluck will be held on Saturday evening. As the event draws near we will post a list of commonly needed items.

Quiet or strategic/remotely placed generators are permitted.
Large fenced in priviate area with lots of safe room for the young ohv riders.

Access gates locked during the night.

Special access approval to west trail system with proper CARA documentation *restrictions apply.

• February 13th Family Day Winter Ride and Pot Luck

• March 27th Ride and cookout McLean Creek McLean Creek OHV area

• April 24th 3rd annual McLean Creek Poker Rally and Geocache event.  McLean Creek OHV area

• May Long weekend May 21st-24th Camping and riding on designated trail system. A $20/night camping fees applies to each camping unit. Large fenced private area with cookhouse, outhouses, garbage bins, supplied firewood and room for 50+ units. New members and Day trips welcome. Ghost Airstrip Provincial Recreation Area (PRA)

• June 26th CARA Ride Location - Hunter Valley area loop.  Extended random camping options may be incorporated. Investigating an option to book a loop of the Hunter Valley Provincial campground for the club. 

• July 17th Thunder in the Valley – Camping location TBD in the McGillvery or Atlas random camping areas.

• July 31st-Aug 2nd Caroline Camping and Riding Camping and rides in the Caroline Forest Reserve area. Exact location TBA.  Prefered location West of Caroline 

• Sept 4th- Calgary 4th Annual Pig Roast and potluck meal.  Family Rides and Campout at the 20 acre Ghost Airstrip group campground. $20/unit nightly camping fees apply. Ghost Airstrip Provincial Recreation Area (PRA).

• Sept 25th CARA Club Ride location in the Ghost FLUZ - Burnt Timber area west of Cremona

• Nov 7th annual REBELS / CARA day ride and BBQ
From South Ghost Staging area to Margret Lake for a BBQ lunch then return. South Ghost Staging area

Update:

On April 13, 2010 CARA held their annual AGM at WestHillhurst and elected a new board for 2010, and it is filled with passionate, energetic individuals.

The coming year appears to be one filled with huge stewardship funding opportunities for our local area and another full calendar of club events.
